Contract Term

This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11th, 2013.

This is a minimum 6 month contract opportunity with potential to extend.

Overview

Our Client is seeking a Senior Project Manager.

Role and Responsibilities

• Identify necessary management structures for projects & secure the management involvement required
• Oversee & control any external resources contracted to the project
• Continually identify, prioritize & mitigate project risks
• Drive proper project chartering & setup
• Maintain strategic alignment of projects by analysing charters & reviewing with management decision makers, typically out of a PMO
• Forecast internal resource capacity by tracking the progress of projects across the portfolio, typically out of a PMO
• Perform team management, driving motivation, collaboration & performance
• Manage project administrators or junior PMs as needed, typically out of a PMO in a larger organization
• Provide an environment conducive to the mentoring, coaching & training of apprentice PMs
• Estimate project costs & manage the budget (includes related scope control)
• Define & drive &right-sized& project management processes (especially supporting quality assurance).

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Oilsands project, so must have previous experience managing large-scale EPC/Construction projects in an O&G environment
• Infrastructure and data systems experience
• 7 to 10 years in Project Management roles
• Collaborative approach to project management
• Exceptional understanding of project management and value management methods, tools and techniques
• Sound knowledge of Project Management best practices
• Expert abilities in risk and issue management (including identification, mitigation and resolution)
• Superior planning, organization and people management skills
• College diploma or university degree in Business or Information Systems
• Microsoft Project
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to provide service, develop consensus and successfully manage relationship
• Positive, "can-do" attitude
• Customer focused approach.

Desired Skills:

• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
• ITIL Foundations.
