NBC orders a full season of 'Grimm'

More thrills and chills to come, y'all!

NBC announced today that its picking up their fairy tale/crime drama "Grimm" for a full season. The pickup shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering how well the series has performed on Friday night ... which is why this next bit of info is a bit strange: NBC is giving the show a new timeslot ? temporarily.

So which day ending in "Y" will "Grimm" be moving to?

The network will be airing an all-new episode of the David Giuntoli starrer on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 10 p.m. But (isn't there always a but), in a kind of weird move, another original episode will air the next night in its regular timeslot, Friday at 9 p.m.

"Grimm," which comes from "Buffy" executive producer and Angel co-creator David Greenwalt and Sean Hayes, has delivered solid numbers in its Friday night timeslot. The show has averged 6.9 million viewers and a 2.3 rating/7 share in the adults 18-49 demographic.

A 'Grimm' twist to new police drama

Previously, the peacock network gave full season orders to comedies "Whitney" and "Up All Night" and garnered some serious flack for shelving cult-hit "Community" starting midseason.

It seems fairy tales are the new crime drama in TV world: ABC recently granted their fairy tale-inspired series "Once Upon a Time" a full season order as well.

"Grimm" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
