Rescuers workers are seen at a site where an under-construction ramp leading to the Banghwa Bridge on the Han River in western Seoul collapsed yesterday afternoon. A Chinese diplomat in Seoul said that two Chinese workers were crushed to death while another one was injured in the accident. A total of four Chinese nationals were working at the construction site. The Chinese embassy has asked the South Korean authorities to provide emergency treatment to the injured and probe the cause of the accident. Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon rushed to the disaster spot and expressed sorrow over the tragedy. Local police said an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the accident while the municipal authorities said they will launch a separate probe into the firms in charge of the bridge extension project.
