Hundreds of thousands of guests drawn to downtown Blackwood; hayrides enjoyed by 30,000 children, and an immeasurable amount of memories created over the course of 20 years ? that?s the impact the Blackwood Pumpkin Festival has had on the community.
Since 1991, on the first Sunday of each October, Blackwood New Jersey has come alive with entertainers, vendors, shoppers and families who converge on the area for the Blackwood Pumpkin Festival. This year?s 20th anniversary event, presented by Mainstage Center for the Arts and sponsored by Beneficial Bank and Elauwit Media, takes place Sunday, October 2, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in and around the Blackwood Rotary Library, 15 S. Black Horse Pike. The rain date is Sunday, October 9.
The festival features food, games,music, shopping, live entertainment, pumpkin painting, amusement rides, hayrides, a moon bounce, petting zoo, face paining pumpkin painting, costume contest/parade, pumpkin carving contest, and more. The costume parade takes place at both noon and 2 p.m. at the stage located in the park at the corner of West Lake and East Railroad Avenues. Participants should register 15 minutes before the parade time of their choice at the Mainstage Information booth located near the Railroad Stage. All costume contest participants receive a prize. For the pumpkin carving contest, entrants are asked to bring already carved or decorated field-grown pumpkins to Harwin Park, which is next to Rite Aid on the Black Horse Pike at noon and 2 p.m.
The day?s entertainment includes performances by Mainstage Center for the Arts? Harmony, high school show choir; Encore, middle school show choir; and other local performers. In addition, B101 and SoJo radio stations will make appearances, providing fun give-aways.
