Ex-Penn State president drops lawsuit seeking his own university emails involving Sandusky

Penn State University's former president is dropping a lawsuit that sought the release of his university emails involving convicted predator Jerry Sandusky.

Online court records show Graham Spanier (SPAN'-yer) moved Wednesday to dismiss the case.

The May lawsuit says Spanier needed the emails to refresh his memory before cooperating with the Louis Freeh (LOO'-ee free) investigation.

The issue now appears moot, as the ex-FBI chief issued his scathing report for the university last week.

The report faults Spanier, football coach Joe Paterno and others for their handling of the abuse complaints.

Sandusky was convicted last month of sexually abusing 10 boys, sometimes on Penn State's campus.

Spanier's lawyers didn't immediately return messages seeking comment from The Associated Press.

The Centre Daily Times first reported Wednesday on the dismissal notice.
